While I may have won some prize money from the HSLDA Poetry Contest last year, I did not win anything this year. So you can bet the winners produced some absolute bangers to shove me out of the competition. 😉

In all seriousness, though, I’m sure the winning entries were fantastic, and I can’t wait for them to show up on the Home School Legal Defense Association website so I can read them and be inspired. Plus, since I lost, I can post my entries here without feeling like I’ve plagiarized myself. (or, I can be lazy and not write new stuff)

Things Come Full Circle

Chubby bird stays still
As I walk noisily by.
He is unafraid.

Tiny bird stays still
As I pass with reverence.
Poor, broken body.

Hopeful chicks breaking
Out of wetness and darkness
To fly as they sing.

Thank you for reading! Have a good week. 🙂
